Will ChatGPT Be a Disaster for AdSense Bloggers?
Is the era of making money with an AdSense blog over?
With the advent of AI search robot ChatGPT, bloggers who make a living with profitable blogs are trembling with anxiety.
Why is ChatGPT a threat to AdSense bloggers?
Many bloggers are producing content for advertising revenue from Google AdSense. The basic mechanism of this search advertising business is that a person seeking information visits a place where information is located through a search and clicks on an advertisement. Google has built this business model over a long period of time and it works perfectly, becoming the company's main source of revenue.
However, with the advent of ChatGPT and its integration with Microsoft's search engine Bing, it is clear that the entire system of the search business is likely to be disrupted in the future.
There are no keywords, links, or visits in ChatGPT
From a blogger's point of view, the most important thing is that their site is exposed in search, and someone rides the link and clicks on the advertisement posted on their site. ChatGPT is an innovation that fundamentally avoids this search method that will become a thing of the past. If you ask a question in the form of a conversation between people without worrying about keywords, ChatGPT finds the most suitable answer, combines it, organizes it, and presents it as if a person answered. There are no keywords, no links or site visits required for this process. It is a one-stop service with only questions and answers.
Simply looking at this structure, it is safe to say that only ChatGPT enters the site where the blogger posted the advertisement, organizes only the information, and there is no need to click on the advertisement. It is a fundamental change in search behavior. This is where Google panics and feels threatened.
If only robots visit my blog
There is a kind of contradiction between search robots like ChatGPT and bloggers. A blog or site is created in anticipation of someone visiting, but if there is no visit, there is no need to painstakingly create and manage the site. The Internet ecosystem becomes stagnant. Someone might like it, judging that it will be easier and more convenient to fill in blog contents through ChatGPT. However, if ChatGPT is the only person visiting a blog you have created using ChatGPT, you will have a different opinion.
There's no way the huge search advertising market will disappear, but now search companies may only post ads based on the results of organizing information pulled from all over the Internet. There is no need to distribute advertising revenue.
It is said that the search results of ChatGPT are still inaccurate in many cases, but it is clear that it will gradually improve and become more sophisticated.
I believe in the CEO of Google who pays bloggers a salary.
Will Google, which has been overwhelmingly at the top of the search market for the past 20 years, just sit back and watch these changes? Now Microsoft Bing can eat some market, but Google is preparing to fight back, using its dominant market share to its advantage. Google is expected to quickly build and launch an AI-powered search engine integrated into Google Chrome. Since Google Chrome is the default browser for many people, this new tool will be widely adopted without much effort. In addition, Google, which relies on search for 60% of its revenue, expects to find a way to maintain its existing search advertising market. Even though the creator of Gmail said ChatGPT would destroy Google's search business within two years.
Times keep changing, and weak bloggers have no choice but to keep a close eye on this trend and find a way to live. Let's not forget that the paradigm has always changed, and in the process, opportunities come or disappear into history.
